I am directed to achnowledge, receipt of your letter of the my Gustaut and to inform you that His Excellency the Governor has been in corres- pondence on the subject of the petition which epre forwarded on the 12 Ellpril last with the
British Consulate, Cauton, & that be fuids that it is impossible for the Hong Kong Covernment to interfore respecting the import of queporeder to Mação, inasmuch as the bauton authorities consider Macae lobe part of China, and the import of -munitions of war unto Chuia is subject to strurgent requlations.
